Russian director Ilya Naishuller has made a name for himself with a couple of insane first-person music videos/action shorts, The Stampede and Bad Motherf*cker. You’ve seen them, they’re ridiculous, bloody as all getout and most importantly, entertaining as hell. Now Mr. Naishuller is testing whether or not his wacky vision can be sustained by a feature film, and based on this trailer, I think it can.

Below you’ll find the first look at HARDCORE, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival over the weekend. Written and directed by Naishuller, the film was produced by Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED) and Sharlto Copley, who co-stars. The trailer might make your brain melt, so take a deep breath before diving in.

Hardcore” is told entirely from the point of view of a cyborg named Henry. Resurrected with no recollection of his past, Henry (the audience) and  his ally, Jimmy (Sharlto Copley, “District 9”) must fight through the streets of Moscow in pursuit of Henry’s kidnapped wife in the world’s first action-adventure film to be shot 100% from the first person perspective.

There are some spoilers in the trailer, but who cares? That won’t stop any of us from seeing it on the big screen. All we need now is a release date, which I’m sure will be announced soon.
