Interview: Men stars Jessie Buckley, Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu

Alex Garland is quickly becoming one of the most exciting directors in the business. It’s hard to remember sometimes that Garland began as an author, writing the Gen-X classic novel The Beach, which was adapted by Danny Boyle into a film and led to them doing 28 Days Later together. With Dredd (which by now most think he ghost directed), Ex-Machina, and Annihilation under his belt, he now turns to the character-based, surreal thriller Men. The movie’s stars, Jessie Buckley, Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu, sat for a quick interview with us where they discussed making Garland’s trippy flick.

While the cast may be small, the three leads are a pretty prestigious bunch. Jessie Buckley blasted onto the scene with Wild Rose and recently earned herself an Oscar nomination for The Lost Daughter. She plays a woman recovering from a traumatic incident who rents a house in the country so she can recover. Too bad then that the entire town is filled with men, all played by Kinnear (in a tour-de-force performance), who makes her life hell. Essiedu plays Buckley’s deceased husband, whose death in the movie’s opening scenes doesn’t stop him from becoming a terrifying spectre in her life.

Check out the interview with Jessie Buckley and the cast above and watch out for our review of Men to follow later this week. The movie opens in theatres on May 20th!
