We recently featured UNDER THE SILVER LAKE, a neo-noir comedy thriller from IT FOLLOWS writer/director David Robert Mitchell, on our list of the "Top 10 Genre Flicks to See in Summer 2018", but unfortunately distributor A24 has decided they won't be releasing the film this summer. Just three weeks out from its scheduled June 22 release date, UNDER THE SILVER LAKE has been pushed back to a December 7, 2018 release.

This does seem like a wise move in a way, as this summer is pretty well packed with blockbusters, so much so that even a fun STAR WARS movie is currently taking a beating at the box office. Plus if there's any chance of UNDER THE SILVER LAKE earning major award nominations, December is the month to release it in.

Starring Andrew Garfield and Riley Keough, the film tells the story of

Sam (Garfield), a disenchanted 33-year-old who discovers a mysterious woman, Sarah (Keough), frolicking in his apartment’s swimming pool. When she vanishes, Sam embarks on a surreal quest across Los Angeles to decode the secret behind her disappearance, leading him into the murkiest depths of mystery, scandal, and conspiracy in the City of Angels.

Press materials have said that UNDER THE SILVER LAKE is a "dazzling and delirious fever dream" with scenarios involving "mysterious dog killers, aspiring actors, glitter-pop groups (including 'Jesus and the Brides of Dracula'), nightlife personalities, It girls, memorabilia hoarders, masked seductresses, homeless gurus, reclusive songwriters, sex workers, wealthy socialites, topless neighbors, and the shadowy billionaires floating above (and underneath) it all". Sounds like a good time at the movies to me.

Give the trailer a look below and if you want to see the film, get ready for a six month wait.
