Netflix subscribers are just one month out from having the chance to watch a new film from Jim Mickle, the director of such films as MULBERRY ST, STAKE LAND, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, and COLD IN JULY (plus several episodes of the Joe R. Lansdale series Hap and Leonard). Mickle's new film is the "genre-bending psychological thriller" IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON, and it's set to reach the Netflix streaming service on September 27th.

Written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON is said to examine

the power of time, and how its passing can either bring us together or tear us apart.

In 1988, Philadelphia police officer Thomas Lockhart, hungry to become a detective, begins tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer’s crimes begin to defy all scientific explanation, Locke’s obsession with finding the truth threatens to destroy his career, his family, and possibly his sanity.

Boyd Holbrook stars as Thomas Lockhart, with Mickle's COLD IN JULY star Michael C. Hall playing a detective who is also Lockhart's brother-in-law. Their co-stars include Cleopatra Coleman and Bokeem Woodbine.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON was produced by Mickle, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Rian Cahill, Ben Pugh, and Linda Moran, with Fred Berger and Rory Aitken executive producing.

This movie sounds very interesting to me, especially with that mention of the killer's crimes "defying all scientific explanation", so I will definitely be watching it once it's on Netflix.
