John Boyega shares some behind-the-scenes goodies from Pacific Rim 2

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Production is now gearing up on PACIFIC RIM: MAELSTROM with Steven S. DeKnight (Exec. producer on Netflix's Daredevil) at the helm and John Boyega starring. This film has had a bit of bumpy start regarding its original director, Guillermo del Toro, dropping back to a producing role, but there's no doubts that Boyega brings in some serious audiences. Speaking of, the charismatic actor took to his Instagram account to give us a little behind-the-scenes look at what he's up to!

Boyega also posted a picture of Idris Elba's character from the first film, stating that, "My dad said it right the first time but I'll take it from here." We've known that Boyega would be playing his son for some time now, but how that'll factor into the sequel is up in the air. The movie's original star, Charlie Hunnam, said that he would NOT be returning, so I hope that the story crafted here still feels like a true follow-up to the original, and not just its own thing.

PACIFIC RIM: MAELSTROM is scheduled to open in theaters on February 23, 2018.
