Josh Whitehouse joins the cast of Jane Goldman’s Game of Thrones prequel

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Blow the horns and light the pyres, for the upcoming GAME OF THRONES prequel pilot has added THE HAPPY WORKER and POLDARK actor Josh Whitehouse to the cast. The reveal of Whitehouse joining the project from showrunner Jane Goldman comes just one day after it was announced that Naomi Watts (KING KONG, TWIN PEAKS) has also signed on to the much-anticipated series.

Most recently, Whitehouse wrapped his part as Joe for THE HAPPY WORKER, a film project helmed by David Lynch protege Duwayne Dunham. Lynch himself is executive producing the release, which tells an existential fairy tale about a community that has been happily digging a hole in the desert for 75 years, until one digger finally asks why they're digging the hole…and things begin to change.

HBO's upcoming GAME OF THRONES prequel hails from KINGSMAN franchise and and KICK-ASS scribe Jane Goldman and Game of Thrones author and TV series co-executive producer George R.R. Martin. It's been said that the untitled prequel will take place thousands of years before the events of HBO's GAME OF THRONES, a move that eliminates fan favorite characters from the original series all together. Furthermore, the prequel chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.

Some might say that the exclusion of characters like Tyrion and Daenerys Targaryen is a risky gambit, though after eight glorious seasons of malevolent magic and blood-soaked battlefields, perhaps it will serve the GOT universe well to clear the board?

Lastly, while no details have been shared with regard to the nature of Whitehouse's character, it was recently revealed that Watts will be playing an alluring high society sort who'd hiding a dark and dangerous secret.
