Jurassic World’s Claire is getting her own origin story novel

Jurassic World Bryce Dallas Howard

I can't imagine anyone was actually asking for this story, since the character didn't seem very interesting to me, but it's a story that's going to be told – an upcoming young adult novel is all about the origin of JURASSIC WORLD character Claire Dearing (who was played by Bryce Dallas Howard).

Publisher Random House has provided the following synopsis for the 304 page novel:

Discover the beginnings of one of Jurassic World‘s most beloved characters–Claire Dearing–in this original action-packed young adult novel.

During the events of Jurassic World, Claire Dearing faced the savage fury of dinosaurs unleashed . . . but it wasn’t the first time. In this entirely new coming-of-age story, Claire lands an elite internship working for Simon Masrani and soon discovers his plans to build an all-new theme park–Jurassic World! Along the way, Claire establishes valuable relationships with both her peers and the prehistoric creatures she studies, but when the situation turns dangerous, she begins to see the dinosaurs in a different light. Fans of Jurassic World will delight in filling in the gaps of Claire’s past, all while gaining insights into the experiences that transformed her into the strong woman we know today.

Jurassic Outpost notes that this is the first JURASSIC PARK "expanded universe" novel to truly be part of the film franchise canon.

The novel doesn't have an official title yet, nor has the name of the author been revealed, but it does have a release date: May 8, 2018. If you'd like to pick up a copy of the hardcover or buy the Kindle edition, you can pre-order the book right now on Amazon.

Claire Dearing will return to the screen, again played by Bryce Dallas Howard, in JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, which reaches theatres on June 22, 2018.
