With the recent news that Kevin Smith is attached to write, direct and executive produce a series based on the Sam and Twitch comic book series, many are left wondering where that leaves the film scripts for MALLRATS 2 and CLERKS 3. Smith admittedly stated that one of the film's stars passed on the latter project, while no one else was interested in picking up a MALLRATS 2 (movie or series). In a recent podcast, the man went on to say what his current plans are for the scripts. Take a look!

Kevin Smith on the state of MALLRATS 2 and CLERKS 3

Sooner or later, I will put the scripts out there for Clerks 3 – A comic book or something like that, so people can see it. And the same thing for Mallrats. Probably Mallrats 2, the movie script, we'll do as a comic book or something like that.

Smith has announced more projects that he's completed, so I wouldn't hold your breath just yet. Still, that's where we're currently at with those two. In meantime, the filmmaker has also stated that he's working on another Jay and Silent Bob film, so really, it could go any direction at this point. MALLRATS 2 would have been interesting, but I'm definitely feeling the loss of CLERKS 3. Here's hoping something comes of it down the road.
