Kong is back & bigger than ever in the Skull Island trailer (Comic Con 2016)

Last Updated on February 3, 2026

Travel back to the 1970s during the end of the Vietnam War and you’ll find yourself in a time before technology had a global hold, and there were still mysteries left to explore. A tracker (Tom Hiddleston) is joined by a group of soldiers and a photojournalist (Brie Larson) to uncover the secrets of Skull Island, only to discover threats that are much larger than they could have ever imagined. Enter the world of KONG: SKULL ISLAND with this trailer!

It’s great to finally see a trailer for SKULL ISLAND, as we can now see what director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is going for tonally. As you can see, this will be a very different type of film than GODZILLA, with a focus on adventure with what’s arguably the best parts of previous Kong films: Skull Island. No romance in sight here, my friends, and that’s just one of the many reasons I’m looking forward to SKULL ISLAND! We’ll have a lot more to say about it in the future!

KONG: SKULL ISLAND hits theaters on March 10, 2017.
