Listen to several samples from Michael Giacchino’s Rogue One score

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Michael Giacchino

Although it was a dream gig, composing the score for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY presented Michael Giacchino with quite the challenge. After the ROGUE ONE reshoots shifted the post-production schedule around, original composer Alexandre Desplat was no longer available and Michael Giacchino was brought in at the last minute. With the release or ROGUE ONE quickly approaching, Michael Giacchino had just four-and-a-half weeks to pen the score. Yikes. Thankfully Giacchino was able to get it done and the folks over at Entertainment Weekly have a sneak peek at several samples of his score.

EW believes that the first sample, titled "Her Path Is Clear," is most likely a Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) theme, and that the second, "Approach to Eadu," references the "storm-drenched planet" which the Rebel spies visit at some point during the film. As for the music itself, it may be brief but I quite like what I'm hearing, definitely STAR WARS but also bringing something new along for the ride.

What do you folks think?

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY will hit theaters on December 16th.
