If you thought the era of horrible SNL character based films was over, think again, because MacGruber is about to join the not-so-great pantheon. The MacGuyver parody starring Will Forte as the all-purpose dingbat will, according to “Production Weekly”, be getting the feature treatment directed by the character’s creator, Jorma Taccone, with production expected to begin next month in New Mexico. Forte had mentioned on a recent talk show that they’ve been working on a script with the intention of making it a feature and, unfortunately, it seems he wasn’t just being wishfully optimistic. Clearly, they didn’t learn a thing from NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY, SUPERSTAR, or LADIES MAN. This one promises to be just as ridiculous and silly as the best of them.
