Man’s Son: Frank Grillo to play cult leader in horror thriller

Close on the heels of the news that Frank Grillo (Boss Level) will be starring in the werewolf movie Year 2 comes the announcement that he will also be starring in the horror thriller Man’s Son for director Remy Grillo… who, yes, does happen to be the actor’s son. This will mark the younger Grillo’s feature directorial debut.

Scripted by Josh Plasse and Brev Moss, Man’s Son was, according to Deadline, “inspired by Occult activity in the California desert”. Filming will begin next month in Yucca Valley, California. The story centers on

a young couple hoping to create an aesthetically pleasing audition tape for an up-and-coming Charles Manson film. But when the couple chooses an eclectic desert Airbnb as the perfect backdrop, the dark events of the audition material slowly slip into their reality. Eventually, they find themselves intertwined in the sinister plot of an occult leader.

Frank Grillo will be playing that cult leader (occult leader?) with the sinister plot.

Coming to us from Dare Angel and Mi Nene, Man’s Son is being produced by Plasse, Shakira Barrera, Conor Allyn, and Johnny James Fiore. Bobby McMichael, Chido Nwokocha, and Dennis Echelberger serve as executive producers.

That’s all we have to go on when it comes to Man’s Son at this time, but the fact that Frank Grillo is going to be playing a villain in a horror thriller is already enough to sell me on the project. He’s one of my favorite actors working today.

In addition to Boss Level, Frank Grillo’s acting credits include roles in The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year, The Grey, This Is the Night, Copshop, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Wheelman, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, Warrior, Mother’s Day, Beyond Skyline, Point Blank, Homefront, The Kill Point, Prison Break, and The Shield.
