Just recently, many festival favorites have begun releasing trailers. Over the last two days, we have seen debuts for both 99 HOMES and MACBETH and now we have Craig Zobel's Z FOR ZACHARIAH. The small film features only Margot Robbie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Chris Pine in a tale of post-apocalyptic survival. But, this is not WORLD WAR Z or even I AM LEGEND. This is a much more intimate picture.

In the wake of a nuclear war, a young woman survives on her own, fearing she may actually be the proverbial last woman on earth, until she discovers the most astonishing sight of her life: another human being. A distraught scientist, he’s nearly been driven mad by radiation exposure and his desperate search for others. A fragile, imperative strand of trust connects them. But when a stranger enters the valley, their precarious bond begins to unravel.

Come on ladies, if you had to choose between Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who would you choose? And guys, I know you would fight any other guy for the right to be with Margot Robbie. Am I right?

Our own Chris Bumbray reviewed the film at Sundance and gave it a decent review. This trailer definitely is edited to make the film seem more intense than his review indicated, but I am intrigued by the casting here. Chiwetel Ejiofor is phenomenal in everything he does and I truly feel Chris Pine has some dramatic chops waiting to be revealed to the world. And Margot Robbie, is there anything this woman cannot do?

Z FOR ZACHARIAH opens in theaters on August 21st.
