Mark Wahlberg: Uncharted Interview

Mark Wahlberg is no stranger to action films and big franchises so he feels perfectly at home in his new role as Victor “Sully” Sullivan in the video game adaptation, Uncharted (read our review here).

Wahlberg has been attached to Uncharted for a number of years but he was originally in the running to play Nathan Drake, now portrayed by Tom Holland in the film. The decision was made to make Uncharted an origin story to focus on a young Nathan Drake so Wahlberg slides into the role of his mentor, Sully. What develops is an effortless witty banter between Holland and Wahlberg that ultimately becomes the heart of the film.

I got the chance to speak with Mark Wahlberg about making Uncharted and we discuss why this is the right film to continue the trend of getting people back into the movie theaters, his very fun fight scene with Tati Gabrielle who plays Braddock in the film, and Wahlberg compares the overall feel of the film to Indiana Jones. On a personal note, the actor also complimented my movie posters which is something his co-star Tom Holland did during our interview. Obviously great minds think alike!

Uncharted hits screens this Friday, February 18, 2022.
