Ahead of the superhero film's anticipated appearance at DC Fandome on Saturday, August 22nd, it's been announced that THE BATMAN will resume shooting in early September in the U.K. at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

Matt Reeves' upcoming film had been nearly seven weeks into production when filming had ceased in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since that time, fans have been going a little batty while waiting for updates as to when cast and crew can return to the set of the Dark Knight's next big-screen adventure. According to Variety, insiders say that Reeves has approximately three months of material left to shoot and that filming could wrap by the end of 2020. It's also been stated that crew members have been constructing sets for the past month, hence the scuttlebutt about cameras getting ready to roll.

While all of this can be taken as great news, it's important to remember that the pandemic is ongoing and that a spike in cases of COVID-19 could set production back once more. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's best to be prepared for the worst, no? I say we all keep our fingers crossed that production on THE BATMAN continues at a safe and steady pace and hope for the best.

Directed and co-written by Matt Reeves with Mattson Tomlin, THE BATMAN stars Robert Pattinson (THE LIGHTHOUSE, TENET), Zoe Kravitz (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD), Colin Farrell (IN BRUGES, SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS), Paul Dano (THERE WILL BE BLOOD, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), Andy Serkis (BLACK PANTHER, THE WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES), Peter Sarsgaard (JARHEAD, KINSEY), John Turturro (THE BIG LEBOWSKI, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?), and Jeffrey Wright (WESTWORLD, BROKEN FLOWERS).

Reeves' THE BATMAN is expected to present fans with a more grounded take on the World's Greatest Detective, while also featuring a who's who of Gotham's worst with villains like Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, and Carmine Falcone all expected to play a part in the events to come.
