Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead picked up by Anchor Bay

We have only written about MIMESIS: NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD once, back in 2011. At the time (when it was only being called MIMESIS), the plot wasn’t exactly clear to us, but with today’s acquisition of the horror film by trusted genre distributor Anchor Bay, we now know what to expect from this subversive little number.

Via The Wrap, which broke the news of the acquisition, MIMESIS, which means “mimicry”, centers on a group of horror fans who engage in a role playing game that emulates classic movies from the genre. In true horror fashion, the game in question takes some gory turns that seem straight out of a George A. Romero splatter-fest.

Basically, the film is about a group of strangers who are captured and thrust into a recreation of Romero’s classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. They’re dressed like the original characters, the house is practically the same, and so on. Soon enough, they’re fighting for their lives against whoever it is that put them in this bizarre predicament.

Pretty fun idea, if I may say so myself.

Directed by Douglas Shulze, MIMESIS stars Sig Haig, Courtney Gains, Lauren Mae Shafer, Allen Maldonado and Taylor Piedmonte.

Anchor Bay and the producers are planning a series of special exhibitions for the picture, but no release date has been revealed.
