Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Hulu has shared the official full trailer for the new season of J.J. Abrams and Stephen King's CASTLE ROCK. The latest terrifying chapter of the horror anthology series premieres Wednesday, Oct. 23 with the first three episodes. New episodes will stream weekly on Wednesdays only on Hulu.

The second season of CASTLE ROCK will partly serve as an origin story for one of King's most iconic villains, Annie Wilkes of MISERY fame. Originally played by Kathy Bates in Rob Reiner's 1990 film adaptation of King's classic tale, the nurse with a dark past and an axe to grind will be potrayed by DAS BOOT and TRUE BLOOD actor Lizzy Caplan for CASTLE ROCK's upcoming excursion into madness and malevolent malpractice.

In addition to today's full trailer reveal, Hulu has announced that a special CASTLE ROCK Season 2 Sneak Peek will go live from FacebookInstagram and Twitter, on Wednesday, October 2, at 9 p.m. ET with a haunting, 13-minute drive that gives fans the driver’s seat view as the car winds through the woods en route to Jerusalem’s Lot, ultimately leading to an exclusive sneak peek at season two. Along the way, the viewer will see and hear easter eggs from the Stephen King and Bad Robot universes, in addition to a few hints at what’s to come this season.

Starring alongside Caplan is Stephen King alum Tim Robbins (THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION), with Elsie Fisher, Yusra Warsama, Barkhad Abdi and Matthew Alan also serving as members of the main cast. Robbins will play Reginald “Pop” Merrill in the series, who was introduced by King via his 1990 novella "The Sun Dog." As the head of King's legendary crim family, Pop is dying of cancer and must come to terms with his family. As the story continues, we find John "Ace" Merrill (Paul Sparks) taking over the family businesses while also disturbing the tranquility within Jerusalem's Lot.

Here's the official synopsis for CASTLE ROCK Season 2:

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories (Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption) are set in there. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that unites King's themes and worlds, and brings together the author's most iconic and beloved characters. In season two, a feud between warring clans comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan), Stephen King's nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.

CASTLE ROCK will return to Hulu for Season 2 on Wednesday, October 23rd.
