Deadwood creator scripting a Heavy Rain movie

One of the most cinematic games released in recent memory is getting its own feature film adaption. The PS3 title Heavy Rain was more of an interactive movie than a game in many ways, but now we’ll get to see how it holds up on the big screen.

Fans should be assured that someone competent is doing the treatment. NYPD Blue and Deadwood creator David Milch has been tracked with writing the script after WB has fast-tracked the film. In case you missed it, here’s what it’s all about it:

“Four protagonists involved with the mystery of the Origami Killer, a serial killer who uses extended periods of rainfall to drown his victims. Ethan Mars is a father who is trying to save his son from being the next victim, while investigative journalist Madison Paige, FBI profiler Norman Jayden, and private detective Scott Shelby are each trying to track down clues to the Origami Killer’s identity.”

In the game, the story was told in a unique way from four different perspectives, and presumably that will be the way the film is organized as well. And with NYPD Blue and Deadwood under his belt, I’m sure we’ll see the M-rated language and nudity cross over to the film as well.

Here’s to hoping for a great video game movie at last…
