Exclusive interview: Rowan Atkinson talks Johnny English Strikes Again!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After a long hiatus, Johnny English is back. The character burst on the scene in 2003, made a big return in 2011 and is back for more goofy antics seven years later in JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN. Clearly, the character's creator, Rowan Atkinson, hasn't been in a rush to capitalize on English's worldwide popularity; the actor-writer has never been one to churn out a sequel just for the sake of it. But obviously the time was right for the bumbling spy to return, and while the world has gotten more sophisticated, Johnny English is as antiquated as ever.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Atkinson recently to talk about Johnny's long absence from the big screen, his input into the screenplay, whether or not the character will return to the big screen in the future and more!
