Farrell’s Ondine pics

The first few shots from Colin Farrell’s mermaid film, ONDINE, have just surfaced. Yes, you read that correctly. Mermaid film. The story is a supposed to be a “lyrical modern fairy tale” (any English majors care to translate?) where the world’s hottest fisherman catches the world’s hottest mermaid in his net. What are the chances? His daughter believes the woman is magical and her appearance turns out to be both a blessing and a curse for Farrell as he falls in love with her.

The film is from Neil Jordon of INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and CRYING GAME fame, and continues Farrell’s streak of decidedly offbeat projects. What better way to follow up an underrated black comedy (IN BRUGES) and a crazy mushroom trip (DR. PARNASSUS) with an indie reimagining of THE LITTLE MERMAID?

ONDINE is debuting at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Scope out the pics below.
