Snake Eyes Interview: Henry Golding on becoming an action hero

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Henry Golding burst onto the scene after landing the male lead role opposite Constance Wu in the romantic comedy, Crazy Rich Asians. The film proved to be a big hit and soon Golding went from relative unknown to the talk of the town. Just a month later, Golding appeared in A Simple Favor opposite Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick which further cemented the fact that Golding was here to stay. After following that up with roles in the romantic comedy Last Christmas and Guy Ritchie's crime film, The Gentlemen, the actor is showing off his action star chops in the new film, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.

Based on Hasbro's G.I. Joe toy, comic, and media franchise, Snake Eyes serves as a reboot of the G.I. Joe film series and an origin story for the title character. Henry Golding stars in the title role and I got to chance to chat with the actor as he takes on a film unlike any he has done before. We touched on Golding taking on Snake Eyes because it gave him a chance to display skills he hasn't utilized on film and we also talked a bit about the rigorous fight training that went into bringing some of the action to life. Golding is a completely humble and engaging personality so it felt good to also ask him what it meant for him as an actor to see his name and image representing a potential franchise starter.

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins hits screens on July 23, 2021.
