Incredibles 2 outpacing Finding Dory, Wonder Woman and more on Fandango

Despite all the other highly-anticipated movies coming out this summer, there is little doubt that INCREDIBLES 2 will win the crown as the biggest movie of the season. Fans have been waiting 14 years for the animated superhero sequel, and according to Fandango, they aren’t waiting any longer to buy their tickets.

Word is (via Deadline) that INCREDIBLES is currently outpacing FINDING DORY to become the biggest animated pre-seller ever on Fandango. The data shows that INCREDIBLES is not only outpacing DORY, but also the likes of WONDER WOMAN, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and SUICIDE SQUAD. Should the movie keep up this pace and beat DORY at the opening weekend box office the movie will have the best opening weekend for an animated movie with at least $140 million.

This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone as INCREDIBLES 2 has generated nothing but positive buzz since the first footage dropped. Not only are fans dying to see it, but the movie also benefits from being the only major family movie yet to hit this summer. Families will be coming in by the busload to see the movie, which is the same kind of business that made other summer animated movies like INSIDE OUT, MINIONS and SECRET LIFE OF PETS such hits.

As well, Pixar has had very good luck with some of their past sequels. TOY STORY 3 made over $400 million in 2010 and became the first animated movie to hit $1 billion worldwide. FINDING DORY did about as well, making close to $500 million and cracking $1 billion globally back in 2016.

In the end, things will go very well for INCREDIBLES 2. Not only will it bring in families but also the kinds of fans who have been showing out for any superhero movie over the last decade since they've become even more popular. Really, there's no way for it not to be a hit, and even though JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM comes out the next week it should still hold over incredibly well from what will be its massive first weekend.

INCREDIBLES 2 arrives June 15.
