Jared Leto gets a haircut in preparation to play Joker in Suicide Squad

Director David Ayer has released another tease for the upcoming production of SUICIDE SQUAD and this may be the most dramatic one yet.  Two photos have been posted of star Jared Leto, one before and one after a haircut that brings him one step closer to his portrayal of The Joker.  While a haircut may not seem like that big of a deal for a movie production, keep in mind that Leto has had shoulder length hair for years now, not even cutting it very much for his award-winning role in THE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB.  In fact, the new style shaves about twenty years off of Leto's appearance.

We still don't have much of an idea as to what approach Leto will be taking in his performance as the iconic DC Comics villain, but this is the first step as there have not been many incarnations of the character with long hair.  David Ayer recently said Leto's performance will be "majestic" but one would expect that from the Clown Prince of Crime.

At this stage in production on THE DARK KNIGHT, we were all questioning whether or not Heath Ledger would be up to the task of playing such a character and we all saw how that turned out.  Leto has large shoes to fill but we will see whether he is up to it as the film gets ready to begin shooting very soon.

SUICIDE SQUAD is slated to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
