The duo of Jason Reitman (UP IN THE AIR) and Diablo Cody (JENNIFER’S BODY), the ones that brought us 2007’s JUNO, are hoping to get back together, this time with the delectable Charlize Theron (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD), to tell the story of a “ghostwriter of young adult novels” called, appropriately enough, YOUNG ADULT.
The story, according to Deadline’s Mike Fleming, follows “a ghostwriter of young adult novels who realizes she has no identity with her pseudonym and plots to reclaim her identity. Her campaign involves going back and rekindling a relationship with her high school boyfriend–who’s freshly married, is a new father, and wants no part of her. While she works on her plan, the ghostwriter reengages with high school acquaintances and their experiences in trying to carry out all those high school hopes and dreams that often get crushed by the realities of life.” Reitman will direct the Cody script with Theron expected to star as the ghostwriter.
YOUNG ADULT is looking to begin production in New York this November.
