Latchkey’s Lament

If you wondered how Troy Nixey went from comic artist to director of the big-screen remake of DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK (produced and co-written by Guillermo del Toro), look no further than his film LATCHKEY’S LAMENT.

Nixey’s whimsical, independently created short tells the bizarre yet touching tale of the love between two keys, and the creature who wants to eat them. (Yes, really.) It’s very polished and stylistically evocative of directors like Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam, and impressive enough that it caught del Toro’s eyeballs and helped land him behind the camera scaring the hell out of Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and, eventually, audiences.

Check out the film for yourself (in two parts) below.
