Marley and me??

Get ready, stoned college freshmen – a biopic based on the life of reggae superstar Bob Marley is on the way from The Weinstein Company. The film will ostensibly been based on the memoir of Marley’s wife Rita titled “No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley.” Locking up the deal with the Weinsteins, Rita took the opportunity to lobby for some family members. She feels daughter-in-law and former Fugees singer Lauryn Hill would be perfect as her and that her grandson Stefan would make a bitchin’ Bob. Nothing is set in stone at this point other than Lizze Borden is currently writing the script in Jamaica. A curious choice for a screenwriter given the potential prestige of the project, Borden has directed episodes of “Red Shoe Diaries” and “Erotique.” And no, she’s not the Lizzie Borden who hacked up her father and stepmother with an axe. No word on when filming might begin but TWC looks to get the project in theaters before Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Marley documentary.
