New bone-crunching trailer for Brick Mansions with Paul Walker!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A new bone-crunching trailer has arrived for the late Paul Walker actioner BRICK MANSIONS, which is a remake of the 2004 French action flick DISTRICT B13. This version retains both screenwriter Luc Besson and original star David Belle, while adding Paul Walker and RZA into the mix. The parkour inspired stunts are still in effect for the remake, which looks suprisingly kick ass for it's genre. I mean, let's be honest, without seeing the trailers for this you would probably chalk it up to a direct-to-video yarn, but it's hard to deny the appeal when you see it in action.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

In a dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times now house only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the city.  Undercover cop Damien Collier (Paul Walker) is determined to bring his father’s killer, Tremaine (RZA) to justice and every day is a battle against corruption.    For Lino (David Belle), every day is a fight to live an honest life. Their paths never should have crossed, but when Tremaine kidnaps Lino’s girlfriend,  Damien reluctantly accepts the help of the fearless ex-convict, and together they must stop a sinister plot to devastate the entire city.  With stylized action featuring thrilling Parkour stunts (David Belle is the co-founder of this physical training discipline), Brick Mansions puts an entertaining twist on the action genre.

I really think BRICK MANSIONS has a shot at being a sleeper hit. It's sad and unfortunate that Walker's last works (both this and the upcoming FAST AND FURIOUS 7) would be some of his more engaging (minus the outstandingly cool RUNNING SCARED), but it's good to see his legacy live on in the wake of his tragic death. If nothing else, BRICK MANSIONS looks like a lot of fun and worth a watch on the big screen.

BRICK MANSIONS breaks into theaters on April 25, 2014.
