New image from Edgar Wright’s The World’s End with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, and crew

A new pic from Edgar Wright‘s THE WORLD’S END has strolled online, featuring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, and Paddy Considine.  The film is the third part of the “Blood and Ice Cream” trilogy, which started with SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ, created by the team of Wright, Frost, and Pegg.  The pic revolves around a group of mates who reunite after 20 years to take on an epic pub crawl that turns into a struggle to save humanity.  Sounds perfectly in line with what these guys have brought before and I couldn’t be more excited.

THE WORLD’S END is easily one of my most anticipated pics of the year and will no doubt be a fitting finale to the trilogy, if not just a kick ass standalone film. From what we’ve seen thus far from the aforementioned talents involved, as well as the lovely Rosamund Pike, this one is likely to be a riot.

There goes the neighborhood:

Here’s the synopsis:

In “The World’s End,” 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

THE WORLD’S END starts the crawl on August 23, 2013.
