Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt reportedly circling Mad About You revival

Over the past few years, we've seen many former TV shows get the revival treatment, including The X-Files, Full House, Twin Peaks, Prison Break, Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace, and more. Not every revival has managed to recapture their former glory, but that hasn't stopped the revival train from moving forward. According to TVLine, the next series to be resurrected from the ashes may be Mad About You, the 90's sitcom revolving around the newly married Paul Buchman (Paul Reiser) and Jamie Stemple Buchman (Helen Hunt).

Several sources revealed to TVLine that Sony has begun "informal talks" with Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt about bringing Mad About You back for a limited run. As for what the new episodes would bring, TVLine claims that they would likely "revolve around Paul and Jamie grappling with empty-nest syndrome in the wake of now-17-year-old daughter Mabel’s admission to college." I haven't watched a single episode of Mad About You, so I can't comment on whether bringing it back would be a good thing, but Paul Reiser previously seemed open to the idea while speaking with People this fall, despite the final episode of the original series ending with a look into the future.

If we can find the story to tell, and anybody’s interested, I’d be open to it... For years, I would’ve said, ‘Absolutely no. We never would do it,’ because I was very proud of how we ended it really well. We even told the future a little bit, so our thinking at the time was, 'Let’s make sure we never get tempted to come back. Let’s tell them what happens.' Now, because everybody’s talking about it, I started to think, ‘Maybe if there’s a story we could come up with.' To me, it’s interesting when I see my kids are growing and leaving the house. It’s like, ‘Oh.’ It’s like that moment when you get married. It’s like we’re in a new world that we don’t know the rules of.

What do you think, Mad About You fans? Is the series ripe for a revival?
