Rumored details on the opening and ending of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

We have been getting less and less details regarding STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in recent weeks. With AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON only a couple of months away, we will likely be getting a look at new footage in the form of a second trailer. But, aside from that, the rumor front has been fairly stagnant.

Still, old reliable rumor site Making Star Wars has some details that reinforce previous rumors about the opening sequence. Check them out.

The film does open with a lightsaber in space. It falls to the ground in a savannah environment during the day. It is quickly discovered by a farmer named Naka. Naka accidentally ignites the weapon and starts a fire with it. At first he runs, but then turns around and obtains the weapon. I assume he snatches the weapon so it is not destroyed in the fire.  Naka then takes the weapon to his elder called The Vicar.

The Vicar is most likely played by Max von Sydow. It is most likely a code name too. Chances are they didn’t need to name the character during filming so they just went with the title The Vicar. Anyways, the Vicar appears to contact the Rebels and this brings Poe Dameron to the planet.

Later that night, Poe Dameron arrives and retrieves the lightsaber from The Vicar. The only problem? They’ve brought the Empire there as well (not sure if the Empire followed Poe or intercepted the initially transmission he received). Poe sees Stormtroopers are coming and he places the laser sword safely in a little droid: BB-8. The droid flees and the heroic Poe Dameron prepares to fight!

The site also claims to have details on the ending of the film which reduce Mark Hamill's involvement to a glorified cameo.  You can read those over at their site if you wish by clicking here.  They also have intel indicating that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o will be heavily enhanced by CGI for a role that also required a body double.  Whether any of this turns out to be true or not, it does go to reinforce the fact that we are all desperate to hear concrete details about STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and every other Lucasfilm related project in the works.  I just want to see the trio of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher back in character and that will hold me until the film hits theaters.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens on December 18, 2015.
