Jensen Ackles is set to reunite with Eric Kripke when the SUPERNATURAL star enlists as Soldier Boy for the upcoming third season of Amazon Prime's THE BOYS.

“I keep wondering what I’ll do….when @cw_supernatural finally ends this year,” Ackles pondered on Instagram this Monday. “Then it hit me.”

Ackles will play Soldier Boy for the upcoming third season, a veteran of World War II, who later becomes the first super celebrity and a mainstay of American culture for decades.

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment,” Kripke joked in a statement. “I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys.’”

Amazon, having witnessed the overwhelmingly positive response to the first season of THE BOYS, had renewed the superhero drama for a third season ahead of its second, which launches on Friday, September 4. In the meantime, Ackles is preparing to shoot the final episodes of SUPERNATURAL, which is set to end with the close of its 15th season.

Are you excited for Ackles to make his way over to THE BOYS after he completes his important work as Dean Winchester for SUPERNATURAL? Do you think that Ackles' co-star, Jared Padalecki, will one day find his way onto the superhero show as well? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments section below.
