Sylvester Stallone cast in Wayne Kramer’s action-thriller Headshot

This is kind of interesting. It looks like HEADSHOT, the new action-thriller from director Wayne Kramer (CROSSING OVER, RUNNING SCARED), will mark the first time aging tough guy Sylvester Stallone will be starring in a film as a lead – that he hasn’t directed himself – since 2003’s SHADE (which I want to say was a DTV flick?). Seems like this should’ve happened sooner, but perhaps Sly has become a little pickier over the years.

Whatever the case may be, THR is reporting that Stallone will indeed be starring in the new film directed by Kramer from a script by Alessandro Camon (THE MESSENGER). In the story, Stallone’s character “teams with a young NYPD detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of Washington, D.C. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.”

I get the feeling that this movie will be made or broken by not only who gets cast opposite Stallone in the role of the young NYPD detective, but whether or not the two can showcase some viable on screen chemistry. We shall have to wait and see.

HEADSHOT begins shooting this May in Louisiana and New York.
