Teaser and cinema schedule for Danny Boyle’s stage version of Frankenstein

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While his real-life rock-climbing drama/thriller 127 HOURS was gaining Oscar attention, filmmaker Danny Boyle was busy bringing Mary Shelley’s macabre classic FRANKENSTEIN to life on the London stage.

Fortunately for those of us who won’t get to London in the immediate future to see Boyle’s well-received adaptation on Olivier stage at the National Theatre, there will be US showings at movie theaters.

Boyle has his TRAINSPOTTING Sick Boy Jonny Lee Miller and “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch swapping out the two lead roles of obsessed scientist and his horrific reanimated creation on a nightly basis (the consensus of reviews seems to be that both handle the roles slightly differently but seeing either is a treat).

That doesn’t mean you’ll only get to see one or the other (plus Boyle’s 28 DAYS LATER co-star Naomie Harris as Elizabeth) when the stage production hits screens — Audiences in cinemas will have the chance to see both combinations, with two broadcasts a week apart.

17 March: Benedict Cumberbatch (Creature), Jonny Lee Miller (Victor)

24 March: Jonny Lee Miller (Creature), Benedict Cumberbatch (Victor)

You can find the list of participating movie locations (US and international) and schedules right HERE.
