Early last week, it was announced that AVENGERS: ENDGAME and MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL star Chris Hemsworth would be paired with comedic actress Tiffany Haddish for an upcoming buddy action-comedy titled DOWN UNDER COVER. For the project, Hemsworth will play a detective who goes undercover to crack a series of baffling casino heists in which the prime suspects are a troupe of Australian male erotic dancers. He’s forced to take the partner no one else will — Haddish’s character, a lone wolf who does things only one way: hers. Together they have to work as an unlikely duo to solve the crime of their careers, Deadline revealed last Tuesday. Hailed as an action vehicle not unlike 48 HOURS, RUSH HOUR, and THE HEAT, the newly announced project is expected to take full advantage of both Hemsworth and Haddish's knack for garnering laughs on the big screen.

As part of a more recent development on the film, Deadline has exclusively reportedd that AVENGERS: ENDGAME directors Joe and Anthony Russo have signed on to produce the venture alongside Mike Larocca via their AGBO banner. Joining them for the production effort  is Thematic Entertainment – the production outfit established by Hemsworth, John Finemore, James Hoppe and Ben Grayson. Meanwihle, Haddish is said to be receiving a production credit as well.

The domestic sale of DOWN UNDER COVER, which sees Peter Hoare (KILLING HASSELHOFF, KEVIN CAN WAIT) penning the script, will be handled by CAA Media Fianance during the upcoming Cannes celebration. The project is expected to fetch a fair amount of cash, seeing as Hemsworth and Haddish are both at the top of their Hollywood game.

We'll be sure to let you know more about this promising project as details are announced. Until then, you'll just have to imagine a buddy comedy wherein Hemsworth is likely to suit up as a male stripper, gyrating and swinging those Asgardian hips of his. Whoa boy! I suddenly feel as if I need to turn the thermostat down in my office, as it is suddenly quite hot in here. Stay tuned, folks.
