The RZA lines up two more directing projects including John Milius' Genghis Khan biopic

Even before THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS hits theaters, The RZA is already lining up quite the slate of projects. The rapper does not appear to be abandoning the music world but seems to be taking the same artistic path as Rob Zombie: starting with a mid-budget indie and then going on to bigger budget fare.

It was already mentioned that The RZA was planning to direct an adaptation of Grant Morrison's comic HAPPY! Now, he has two more projects coming and they sound pretty damn ambitious.

The first project is a biopic of Genghis Khan that was developed by John Milius. Milius was going to direct the movie but will now take on a producer capacity as The RZA steps in. Khan is considered one of the greatest military leaders of all time and united a huge expanse of Asia and Europe rivaled only by Alexander the Great. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will be told from the point of view of Khan’s son and grandson. Shooting is expecting to begin next year in China.

The other project, NO MAN'S LAND, will likely shoot first. The film tells the story of a man who steals a powerful criminal's diamond that soon proves to be far more valuable than initially thought. With the help of a dancer, he attempts to stay alive and cash in on the jewel. The story takes place during one night and has been described as having echoes of THE WARRIORS.

Both sound like excellent choices. THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS already looks like a hell of a lot of fun and shares the sensibilities of producer Quentin Tarantino and screenwriter Eli Roth. The RZA will truly have his directorial abilities under the microscope this Friday. But, with projects like these, I think we can enjoy good things from him in the future.

Extra Tidbit: The RZA should direct THE LEGEND OF CONAN.
