You mess with the bull you get the horns in final Antlers trailer

Back when he was still alive, my grandfather was obsessed with folklore. He used to gather my cousins and I around the living room fireplace, and tell us tall tales about the origins of frightening and fascinating creatures such as the Naga, the Piasa Bird, and of course, the mythological man-eating creature of Native American Algonquian lore known as the Wendigo. As an insatiable and unpredictable beast, the Wendigo arrives in many forms across a number of cultures. However, regardless of what region the Wendigo hails, all peoples agree that a monster such as this is not to be trifled with. And if you happen to discover a Wendigo, it is likely the last thing that you'll ever see.

Fox Searchlight Pictures today has unleashed a final trailer for ANTLERS, a disturbing fantasy horror thriller that takes place in a quiet Oregon town, where something tortured and hungry is waiting to sink its teeth into anything and anyone that dares disturb its iron-clad prison.

Here's a brief synopsis for ANTLERS:

A small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Directed by CRAZY HEART and BLACK MASS director Scott Cooper and produced by Guillermo del Toro, ANTLERS is based on the short story "The Quiet Boy" by Nick Acosta (THE ACT, CHANNEL ZERO, HANNIBAL). Acosta penned the script alongside C. Henry Chaisson, which has Keri Russell (THE AMERICANS), and Jessie Plemons (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS starring as the film's lead characters. Co-starring are Graham Greene (DANCES WITH WOLVES) and Rory Cochrane (ARGO), with Jeremy T. Thomas playing the role of Lucas Weaver.

I've personally had my eye on this film for quite a while, and I'll be damned if every trailer that's released for it isn't more paralyzing than the last. The very idea of a creature such as the one showcased here being set loose upon the world chills me to my very core. Stories say that a Wendigo's hunger can never be sated, and that the taste of human flesh only serves to prompt more acts of madness and destruction on the creature's behalf. Pray that you never come across one of these mythological monsters, for it would likely mean your mortal end.

ANTLERS is set to tromp into theaters on April 17, 2020.
