Zombieland 2 breathes life again and hires a writer

One of the many sequels people are craving for seems to finally have some serious push behind it. Sony Pictures is getting behind another installment of ZOMBIELAND by hiring writer Dave Callaham (THE EXPENDABLES) to write the sequel. The script will be supervised by returning director Ruben Fleischer. It’s surprising it took this long to get it going considering the popularity of anything zombie related hasn’t seemed to die down just yet; just look at the The Walking Dead which is more popular than ever as proof that people still have taste for the living dead.

The original ZOMBIELAND grossed over $100 million worldwide and increased the popularity (and salaries) for its main cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin. We still don’t know if those stars will return but I imagine that might be the real deal breaker here as that ensemble really made the movie for a lot of fans. We will keep you posted as more develops on the potential sequel.

You might recall the attempt to bring the franchise to the small screen as "Zombieland: The Series" in 2013 become an Amazon Original Series. There was only one insufferable episode, sorry for this:
