Netflix featurette details the challenges of anti-aging for The Irishman

Last Updated on October 5, 2021

In a year which has included tales of a mad titan battling superheroes through time and space and adventures in a galaxy far, far away, Martin Scorsese‘s THE IRISHMAN still stands as one of the most ambitious films of the year. THE IRISHMAN starred Robert De Niro as Frank Sheeran, a truck driver who became a hitman involved with mob boss Russell Bufalino (Joe Pesci) as well as Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino), the powerful head of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. As the story of THE IRISHMAN spans decades, Scorsese turned to Industrial Light & Magic to peel back the decades on De Niro, Pesci, and Pacino.

No matter your opinion on the end-result, it’s clear that an awful lot of hard work and ground-breaking technology went into THE IRISHMAN, and Netflix has released a featurette which dives into the numerous challenges of anti-aging for the critically acclaimed film. There’s plenty to digest in the thirteen-minute long featurette as well as plenty of illuminating visuals, including a brief snippet of the proof-of-concept piece which found Robert De Niro reenacting a scene from GOODFELLAS (beginning at 3:15 for those interested).

THE IRISHMAN is now streaming on Netflix, and be sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray!
