Noomi Rapace and Tommy Wirkola reteam for Norwegian thriller The Trip

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A few years ago, DEAD SNOW / HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS director Tommy Wirkola and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (Swedish version) / PROMETHEUS star Noomi Rapace teamed up for the Netflix sci-fi flick WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY, in which Rapace played multiple different roles. Now Wirkola and Rapace are set to work together again on a Norwegian-language thriller called THE TRIP.

Rapace will star alongside Aksel Hennie in the film, which will center on

a dysfunctional husband (Hennie) and wife (Rapace) who head to a remote lakeside cabin under the guise of reconnecting, but each has secret designs to kill the other. Before they can carry out their respective plans, unexpected visitors arrive and the couple is faced with a greater danger than anything they could have plotted.

Wirkola wrote the screenplay with Nick Ball and John Niven. Kjetil Omberg and Jorgen Storm Rosenberg will be producing the film for 74 Entertainment. XYZ Films is handling the financing and will be presenting the project to potential distributors at the Toronto Film Festival. Nordisk Film Distribution is already set to handle distribution in Scandinavia.

Based on the plot synopsis, it sounds like this has a solid set-up that should make for an intriguing thriller.
