Yesterday, it seemed like it was raining Spider-Man news, be it from Andrew Garfield‘s comments on Spidey’s sexuality or our first look at Electro’s costume and today it looks like the skies are still cloudy as a whole new batch of official images from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 have dropped, courtesy of EW. The pics include another look at Electro (Jamie Foxx) in his new get-up. Additionally, there are shots of the ol’ webhead, a familiar-looking image of The Rhino aka Aleksei Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti), and a shot of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).

The most interesting thing I see out of these pics is the computer thingamajig on Electro’s head, which suggests some type of control device for his powers…or something. In terms of Electro’s origin, I don’t recall him ever having a device that controlled his powers, but at this point I’m just along for the ride when it comes to this franchise. The deviations have been a hybrid of THE DARK KNIGHT method of thinking, which spins existing characters to fit their universe, rather than adapting them perfectly to their comic-book page origins. And, certainly, that’s going to happen when jumping from page to screen, but some are more faithful than others. I’m intrigued by what this franchise is doing and where it’s going now that they abyssmal snooze of his origin is in the can.
