Old school 1927 movie map reveals how Hollywood faked the world

For you old-timey movie buffs out there, here’s an image I stumbled across that I found pretty cool.

It’s a map from 1927 of different locations around Southern California where different types of movies could be shot. The Rockies can be anything from Switzlerand to Siberia, the deserts can be the Sahara or the Sudan. In between we have Africa, New England and Sherwood Forrest if we so choose. Check it out below:

I thought I’d take two seconds and make an updated version of this map, as shooting “on location” is becoming increasingly more passé these days thanks to the likes of James Cameron who can create entire planets in a warehouse.
