When news came out of DC FanDome that James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD would be getting an HBO Max spin-off, fans were elated. The series will be called Peacemaker and feature John Cena reprising his role from the upcoming film. We now have more names joining the WWE superstar including some very recognizable ones.

Joining John Cena as the titular character and Steve Agee as John Economos will be Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, and Chris Conrad as Vigilante/Adrian Chase. Also coming on board will be Jennifer Holland reprising her role from THE SUICIDE SQUAD as Emilia Harcourt.

Peacemaker will be comprised of 8 episodes, all written by James Gunn. Gunn will direct several episodes including the premiere entry. It remains to be seen when Peacemaker will premiere on HBO Max but production is slated to start in early 2021 before Gunn moves on to film GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3.

The plot for Peacemaker is unknown but according to HBO, the series will explore the origins of the character that Cena will play in the upcoming film, a man who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD is slated to hit theaters on August 6, 2021, which would mean Peacemaker may not debut until after that. It is also being billed as an extension of THE SUICIDE SQUAD and could be the first of many depending on how the movie and Peacemaker resonate with fans.
