The Suicide Squad may have come and gone, but we still have the wacky yet brutal antics of Peacemaker to look forward to. A new Peacemaker poster has been unveiled today ahead of the upcoming DC FanDome and it urges all of us to just give peace a f**king chancel. Wise words.

While sharing the new Peacemaker poster, James Gunn also said that a new Peacemaker teaser will be unveiled at DC FanDome, which is set to kick off on October 16th. As for why James Gunn even wanted to move ahead with a series centering around Peacemaker, he recently told THR that producer Peter Safran and DC Films president Walter Hamada came to him during filming and asked him which character he’d like to use in a spinoff, and it didn’t take much to narrow it down to John Cena’s character.

At the end of The Suicide Squad, [Idris Elba’s] Bloodsport learns a lot. He’s a better person than he was at the beginning. A lot of the characters are much better than they were at the beginning, and Peacemaker has a lot to learn,” said Gunn. “It’s that ability to learn that for me makes him a little bit more likable. His blindspots in some places are pretty terrible, and in some places are him being ignorant. I think that’s an important distinction to make as well. He is open at the same time, sometimes.

Peacemaker is expected to launch on HBO Max in January 2022, but I would imagine that we’ll get a more official date at DC FanDome. In addition to Peacemaker, we can also expect a new trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson to be unveiled at DC FanDome as well as a look at Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. There will be plenty of other goodies as well and we’ll be sure to bring you the full scoop as they roll out.
