When writer/director Ti West‘s horror film X reached theatres earlier this year, a trailer for the already-filmed prequel Pearl was attached to the end credits. And up until now, seeing X on the big screen was the only official way to see that trailer. Now distributor A24 has tweeted out a poster for Pearl, and along with that poster (which can be found at the bottom of this article) they announced that the Pearl trailer is going to be released online tomorrow!

X told the follow story:

In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

The film stars Brittany Snow (Would You Rather), Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi (Bill & Ted Face the Music), Jenna Ortega (the new Scream movie), Martin Henderson (The Strangers: Prey at Night), Owen Campbell (Super Dark Times), and Stephen Ure (Deathgasm), with Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), buried under old age makeup, playing a homicidal elderly woman named Pearl.

The prequel named after Goth’s character takes us back to 1918, where we’ll get to see what Pearl was like sixty-one years earlier. And the newly unveiled poster promises this will be an “x-traordinary origin story”.

Directed by West from a screenplay he wrote with Goth, Pearl was produced by A24, Jacob Jaffke, Harrison Kreiss and Kevin Turen, with Goth, Dennis Cummings, Sam Levinson, Ashley Levinson, Karina Manashil, Scott Mescudi, and Peter Phok serving as executive producers. Goth is joined in the cast by David Corenswet (The Politician), Matthew Sunderland (The Nightingale), Tandi Wright (Alibi), and Emma Jenkins-Purro (The Brokenwood Mysteries).

I didn’t catch X until VOD, so I haven’t seen the trailer for Pearl. But I really enjoyed X, so I’m anxiously looking forward to the prequel.
