Pennywise spin-offs are possible says IT screenwriter

Director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of Stephen King's IT: CHAPTER TWO ( pre-order HERE) will be hitting 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD next month. And today the films' screenwriter Gary Dauberman says he thinks IT spin-offs are possible.

Specifically, he says:

I do think it's possible. Anything in the Stephen King Universe interests me but there's only so much of the story we could tell in the two movies. There are definitely elements of the novel you could expand on and make its own movie. It's just a question of whether or not people want to see it but I do think It was on this planet for a very, very, very long time and that's a lot of bloodshed and a lot of stories to tell and I think you could do that for sure.

Personally, I'd really like to see a Limited Series called THE DERRY INTERLUDES. It could be a show that covers the odds and ends such as the fire at the Black Spot, the story of Eddie Corcoran, the Bradley Gand massacre, the massacre at The Sleepy Silver Dollar, and other loose ends.

IT: CHAPTER TWO has snagged an R-rating via the MPAA for "disturbing violent content and bloody images throughout, pervasive language, and some crude sexual material." Here's the synopsis:

Twenty-seven years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård), he has returned to terrorize the town of Derry once more. Now adults, the Losers have long since gone their separate ways. However, people are disappearing again, so Mike (Isaiah Mustafa), the only one of the group to remain in their hometown, calls the others home. Damaged by the experiences of their past, they must each conquer their deepest fears to destroy Pennywise once and for all…putting them directly in the path of the shape-shifting clown that has become deadlier than ever.
