Although it's still only a rumor, there's a good chance William Shatner will appear in STAR TREK 3, and we do know Shatner was at least contacted about possibly starring in the Roberto Orci film. Badass Digest was the first to break the news, and now the site has some details on the actor's role in the upcoming movie.
According to Badass Digest, William Shatner's Kirk will meet the Chris Pine version in STAR TREK 3, and both Spocks (Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto) will be present as well. The site also goes on to say Shatner and Nimoy won't be playing the Kirk and Spock from the original timeline. Instead, they'll be playing future versions of the current characters from the alternate timeline.
So why will Chris Pine's Kirk and Zachary Quinto's Spock be meeting future versions of themselves in STAR TREK 3? We'll have to wait and see, but the new film will be set in deep space, and who knows what the Enterprise might find out there. Most fans seem to be happy William Shatner might be returning to the franchise, and hopefully they won't be disappointed with his scene in STAR TREK 3.
STAR TREK 3 doesn't have an official release date, but many believe it will be in theaters sometime in 2016.
