Most of us were likely under the impression that the Neill Blomkamp directed, Peter Jackson produced sci fi mockumentary DISTRICT 9 wouldn’t be violent but the horror fiends over at “Arrow” recently discovered that the film has been given an R rating for “bloody violence and pervasive language”. So, in the film, not only are we confining the visiting extra-terrestrials to the titular slums in Africa but we’re torturing them as well? Or is there a violent alien uprising? Does this thing have much broader social commentary than we thought? Either way, this makes the film’s appeal jump an energy level or two. The isolation of quite literal illegal aliens begins on August 14th.
