Resident Evil movie reboot moves release date back two months

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So, just like the announcement earlier this week that Mortal Kombat will have its date pushed back, so too will another videogame reboot (that was also once originally directed by Paul W.S. Anderson) get its release date pushed back as well. But instead of just a week later – like the aforementioned Mortal Kombat – Sony has instead announced that the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City reboot will be pushed back two whole months from September 3rd to November 24th

Now, while there's been no official synopsis for the upcoming reboot, it is said to be an "origin story" that combines the first two Resident Evil games into one narrative, and will be set around the times those games were originally released: 1998.

Here's the director Johannes Roberts‘s (47 Meters Down) said about the film:

With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and recreate the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences

Meanwhile, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City stars Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin, and Donal Logue (Silent Night) as Chief Irons.

So what do you guys think? Fans of the games? If so, looking forward to the reboot? Either way, sound off below!
