Reynolds and Brolin trade verbal blows for BBC Radio’s Playground Insults

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I hope you're ready to feel some love, dear readers, because Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin are about to demonstrate just how far they've come as friends while playing BBC Radio 1's "Playground Insults." The rules of the game are simple: Make each other laugh, the sillier the better. The game ends when someone can't control their laughter or a player delivers a killer insult. No one is allowed to take the insults personally, regardless of how savage the verbal abuse turns out to be.

Funnily enough, Reynolds serves up the first round with a bit of a whiffer, by referring to his DEADPOOL 2 co-star as a "muffin-snuggling pirate puncher." Oh, it sounds like someone's been reading Skottie Young's I Hate Fairyland, during his downtime, on set. Then, in pure Brolin fashion, the Marlboro Man-looking actor looks at Reynolds and says, "that's your insult?" Reynolds then corrects him by saying "Muffin-smuggling?" The exchange is a bit tame, to say the least, though I'm happy to report that things do eventually heat up as the contest continues.

You can enjoy the whole game for yourself by watching the video posted below:

Heh, see, it got a bit better toward the end, right? I particularly like the insult where Reynolds says that Brolin’s performance in THE GOONIES was so bad that, when his character is on screen, people “punch themselves in the dick for five straight minutes.” Ha ha ha! There it is! That's the Reynolds wit we all know and appreciate. Well played gentlemen, now let's all hope that you've saved the real zingers for DEADPOOL 2, which is scheduled to slice and dice its way into theaters this Friday!
