Sad news today. Actor Michael J. Pollard passed away yesterday at the age of 80. The beloved character actor was best known for his role in writer-director Rob Zombie's HOUSE OF 100 CORPSES and as C.W. Moss in director Arthur Penn's BONNIE & CLYDE co-starring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman, and Estelle Parsons, a role which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

Rob Zombie brought the news to our attention over on Facebook, writing:

We have lost another member of our HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES family. I woke up to the news that Michael J. Pollard had died. I have always loved his work and his truly unique on-screen presence. He was one of the first actors I knew I had to work with as soon as I got my first film off the ground. He will be missed. I can't believe all three of my friends in this picture are now gone.

Other notable Michael J. Pollard films include Fred Schepisi's ROXANNE with Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah, John Hough's AMERICAN GOTHIC with Rod Steiger, Richard Donner's SCROOGED with Bill Murray, Michael A. Simpson's SLEEPAWAY CAMP III: TEENAGE WASTELAND, Andrei Konchalovsky's TANGO & CASH with Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell, Warren Beatty's DICK TRACY, and SPLIT SECOND with Rutger Hauer.

Michael J. Fox (BACK TO THE FUTURE) whose real middle name is Andrew, took the middle initial "J." as an homage to Pollard.
